He is a qualified management accountant and MBA who has extensive experience at board level in both private and public sector and across a broad portfolio of corporate services functions including Finance, IT, HR, Procurement and Estates and Facilities.

He has worked in the chemicals and engineering materials sectors as well as environment, justice, health and banking. Ian’s non-executive roles have included board positions within the NHS and as a lay member of the University of Lancaster’s Research Ethics Committee. He currently serves on the Advisory Committee in Cheshire and Merseyside for the appointment of Magistrates. He is also the Chair of a small woodland conservation charity in Cheshire.
