PLANNING | Apartment-heavy agenda awaits Warrington

Two projects comprising a combined 500 apartments in key central locations, and a base for Warrington Youth Zone are among those to go before the council’s development control committee on Wednesday.

Local outfit Lane End is proposing 144 apartments at Academy Stret, on a site that formerly housed Kwik Save and was later home to the now-defunct Skate Academy. Within the scheme, 110 are to be two-bedroom and 34 one-bedroom. The recommendation is to approve with the condition attached that a £70,000 contribution is made to Warrington’s City Centre Access Plan.

The Lane End plan is joined on the agenda by Palmus’ plans for a mixed apartment/mutlistorey car park on brownfield land within the Stadium Quarter, a scheme that also includes 6,400 sq ft of commercial space.
