Green light for huge manufacturing facility

Plans to build a cardboard box manufacturing facility spanning almost 800,000 sq ft next to the M53 in Ellesmere Port have secured the green light.

A hybrid planning application by Peel Investments (North) to transform the 45.5-acre site of the former Cabot Carbon plant, which closed in 2009, has been approved by Cheshire West & Chester Council's planning committee.

Full planning permission was sought for phase one of the UMC Architects-designed scheme which comprises a 327,976 sq ft corrugated cardboard and cardboard box manufacturing facility, while outline consent was requested for phase two which features an additional manufacturing facility of up to 468,230 sq ft.
