£57m plan to widen A500 between Crewe and M6 Junction 16

A £57m scheme to turn the A500 between Crewe and Junction 16 of the M6 into a dual carriageway is out for pre-planning consultation.

It is proposed to convert a 3.3km length of the A500 between the M6 and the Meremoor Moss roundabout.

The stretch of road is notorious for rush-hour gridlocks and Cheshire East are spearheading plans to widen it in anticipation of increased congestion and HS2 construction traffic.

Detailed plans and exhibition materials have now been made public for South Cheshire residents and stakeholders to examine. The consultation runs until November 1.
